As part of the project “Access to Justice for Children”, Kosi Lok Manch is working towards strengthening the child protection ecosystem at the district level across the belt of Bihar, West Bengal and Assam.
Across the states, the organization has developed partnership with child protection authorities and law enforcement agencies to ensure support and assistance to the victims of child sexual abuse and exploitation and to rescue and rehabilitation support to victims of Human Trafficking. The key components of the projects involved:
- STRENGTHEN PARTNERSHIP WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT AND CHILD PROTECTION AUTHORITIES- Kosi Lok Manch established partnerships with police officials and child protection agencies in these states, creating a joint effort to address the pressing issue of child abuse, trafficking, exploitation, and other crimes affecting children.
- TRAINING PROGRAMS ORGANISED IN PARTNERHSIP WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS AND DISTRICT LEGAL SERVICES AUTHORITY- As part of Access to Justice Project, the organization in partnership with the law enforcement officials and District Legal Services Authorities organized training programs on Child Sexual Abuse and Child Trafficking related issues to strengthen the responses of the agencies to provide immediate support and assistance to victims of abuse and exploitation.
STRENGTHENING THE EMERGENCY RESPONSE SYSTEM AT THE DISTRICT LEVEL: Across its intervention districts, Kosi Lok Manch works proactively with the district administration, child protection officials and law enforcement officials to strengthen the responses of the stakeholders to the cases of Child Sexual Abuse/Child Trafficking/ Child Labour at the district level for victim support and assistance. As part of the initiative, the organization:
Ensures compliances of case registration, case investigation and victim support & assistance
Ensure monitoring of case trials for ensuring Access to Justice-Pending cases & aggravated sexual assault cases.
Provide assistance with post judgment support.
Ensure support to victims of Child Sexual Abuse as Support Persons.
Over the years of its establishment, Kosi Lok Manch has established a successful partnership with Police department and Child Protection Agencies at state and district level in Bihar, Assam and West Bengal states, creating a joint effort to address the tenacious issue of Child Abuse, Trafficking, Exploitation, Child Marriages and other crimes affecting children and their Childhood.
